For the privacy of our guests the crew quarters are self-contained at the front of the vessel, only one crew member sleeps aboard. 

Technical - Twin Engined

The Randle is a licensed passenger vessel, registered in Paris. Built in 2001 and launched in 2002, she is a bespoke, steel-hulled, twin-engined barge, constructed to the highest standards. She measures 22 m long and 4 m wide and weighs 50 tonnes (72 ft × 13 ft, 55 US tons).

The Randle runs on HVO100, a renewable fuel made entirely from waste plant material and used cooking oils, cutting our carbon emissions by up to 85% compared with conventional diesel. HVO100 is also biodegradable, non-toxic and odourless.

There’s no gas aboard: the galley cooks on an induction hob and electric oven, and The Randle is heated and cooled by electric heat pumps.

"My husband and I chartered this 4 passenger DELUXE barge which travels in Burgundy. We had never traveled this way before. We had no idea. We put ourselves in the hands of The Randle with Tim (owner and Capt) along with Gael a cordon bleu trained chef for a glorious, relaxed week of slow travel. Passing thru numerous locks provided entertainment between idyllic countryside scenery. Gael made lunches and breakfasts to order. Daily when we'd tie up, off we went on foot/via Mercedes with Stuart to visit villages/chateau/shop. Wine tastings. Food was outstanding as was the burgundy wines and various. A/C in luxurious (by barge standards) staterooms, fine linens, ample hot water for showers and the like. The Randle was the most handsome barge on the canals. To use a car metaphor. If The Randle was a Bentley, the other barges we saw were Winnebago's.
